history

Our History

Through unwavering dedication and perseverance, AABPP has grown from an informal gathering of Black psychology professionals into a leading advocate and voice for mental health equity, education, and services in Arkansas’ Black community.

The organization has been actively serving the Black community for approximately 14 years. While the organization’s official founding was in 2010, its roots trace back to informal gatherings of Black psychology professionals in Arkansas around 2009.

The initial impetus for forming AABPP was the need for a stronger network of Black psychologists in the state. Over the years, the organization has evolved from a networking group to a prominent advocate for the mental health of the Black community.
